Jennifer Aniston called in favours to make Cake

Los Angeles - Jennifer Aniston called in a lot of "favours" to get her latest movie Cake made.

The 45-year-old actress plays character Claire Simmons, a pain-riddled woman recovering from an accident who becomes obsessed by the suicide of another woman in her chronic pain support group.

As well as starring in the movie, Aniston also acted as executive producer and used her extensive contacts in the industry to help get the project - the first film from Cinelou Films' new distribution arm Cinelou Releasing.

She said: "There were a lot of favours, sweet loving given so that people provided in order to help our little movie."

The former Friends star insists she enjoyed the experience of making Cake very exciting because she got to be involved in so many aspects of the filmmaking process, something that doesn't happen on her bigger budget movies.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she explained: "It's not that the big ones aren't exciting, but you can get to be, for me, creatively involved on all levels, which I just find so utterly fulfilling."

In her role as executive producer, Aniston assisted in hiring the rest of the cast - which includes Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington and Felicity Huffman - and also putting together the crew.

Cake is already being tipped for potential Oscar success and Aniston is very "flattered" by the reaction to the film.
