Los Angeles - Jennifer Lawrence has filmed a secret cameo for Dumb and Dumber To.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire actress will have a small role in the sequel to 1994's slapstick comedy Dumb and Dumber, which is currently being filmed with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprising their famous roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence is shooting the final instalments of the Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2, at a location close to the set of the comedy and filmed a scene last week.

The actress - who has previously admitted to being a huge fan of Dumb and Dumber - is expected to play a younger version of Kathleen Turner's character from the first film.

Dumb and Dumber To is set to be released next year to mark the 20th anniversary of its predecessor. Bobby and Peter Farrelly are back on board as directors and screenwriters.

The new film focuses on dim-witted Harry and Lloyd's search to find Harry's long lost daughter.

Lawrence previously declared that she knew all the words to Dumb and Dumber, as well as fellow comedies Anchorman and Step Brothers.

The Oscar-winning starlet will next be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in November and has two more eagerly anticipated films in the pipeline including American Heist, which sees her reunite with Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell and co-star Bradley Cooper, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
