Jeremy Renner delighted with Golden Globe nomination

Los Angeles – Jeremy Renner has called his Golden Globe nomination a "big victory".

The star, who has received a nod in the Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture category for his role in the Ben Affleck-directed thriller The Town thinks he received the nomination because movies like it are a rarity in Hollywood.

He said: "These days, it's a big victory in that sense that it was received really well when it came out and that it did really well with the audience. I don't think every studio is going to go out and start making movies like this but at least there's a little more hope that we can attempt to try to make some really engaging cinema.

"Wow, did we have a really kickass character drama masked within a really intriguing bank heist movie? To me, it's a throwback to the 70s – really tremendous cinema. ... Movies like this just don't get made."

Jeremy, who was nominated for an Academy Award earlier this year for The Hurt Locker, said he planned to celebrate his achievement by taking a shower and enjoying the night.

Asked what his plans were for celebrating he told Variety: "A nice shower ... I think later on tonight's going to be a good night."
