Los Angeles - Jeremy Renner has promised the new Bourne film will be "vastly" different to others in the franchise.
The actor has taken on the lead role in The Bourne Legacy following the departure of Matt Damon from the series and while he promises the forthcoming movie will be "more expansive and bigger", it will still appeal to fans of the earlier trilogy.
He said: "It's that same deal, it's just a new set of agents with a different leash. It's the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you'll know it's a Bourne movie.
Shrouded in speculation
"For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters."
The film - which sees Tony Gilroy replace Paul Greengrass at the helm - has been shrouded in speculation and Jeremy has now revealed the name of the character that takes over from Jason Bourne at the centre of the storyline.
He told the new issue of Empire magazine: "My character is called Aaron Cross but he ends up having a bunch of different names."
'The Bourne Legacy' is scheduled for release on August 17 2012.
