Los Angeles - Jessica Chastain is terrified of being attacked in her home.
The Zero Dark Thirty star says she has "a very active imagination" and sets booby traps all over her apartment in New York City in a bid to catch potential intruders, and also relies on her dog, Chaplin, to keep her safe.
The 37-year-old beauty said: "If there's one thing that my dog knows about me and no one else does, it's that I'm such a scaredy cat. He would know this because I always want him to be a guard dog. In the middle of the night at my apartment, if I'm all alone and hear a noise, I completely freak out. And I always try to get Chaplin to be a ferocious protector. Sometimes when I'm scared, I'll try to create booby traps in my house. I'll lock my bedroom door, and I'll try to put a chair or something in the hallway that would make noise if someone walks by it."
The flame-haired beauty admits she sometimes doesn't help herself by watching movie American Horror Story on her own in her abode.
She added to PEOPLE magazine: "I have a very active imagination. There's a lot of night-time activity dedicated to trying to foil an intruder - especially if I'm watching 'American Horror Story!"
