Jodie Foster 'jumped' to work with Blomkamp

Cape Town – Jodie Foster jumped at the chance to work with director Neill Blomkamp.

"District 9 is as close to a perfect film as it gets. It delivers social commentary, but uses science fiction to express it," Foster told Totalfilm.

Foster will star in Elysium, the latest project from the South African-born, Canadian-based director. On Monday it was announced that Brazilian actress Alice Braga would be joining Foster, Matt Damon, South African actor Sharlto Copley and Wagner Moura in the futuristic thriller.

Elysium is scheduled to hit cinemas in March 2013.

Not much is known about Elysium’s screenplay except that it is set in the future and also utilises the socio-political angle explored in District 9.

Foster is reluctant to give away to much, however she did say that she will be playing a mighty extraterrestrial being.

"Those sci-fi movies are all really hush-hush. I don’t even own a screenplay."

She even had to give it back after reading it. "I’ve read it, but they won’t give me one to physically keep in my home 'cause they’re so worried about everybody."
