Cape Town – The sequel to the hit South African film Spud is currently in the swing of production in Cape Town, reports 2oceansvibe News.
Based in the bestselling series of semi-autobiographical novels by John van der Ruit, Spud tells the story of a young boy’s adventure-filled years at a KwaZulu-Natal boarding school.
New photos have emerged of British screen legend John Cleese, who plays eccentric English teacher The Guv in the movies, on the set in Cape Town with director Donovan Marsh.
The movie is currently filming at SACS High School in Newlands.
The first Spud movie was released to critical and box office acclaim in December 2010, earning nearly R3m in its first week of release – the biggest opening for a South African movie outside of the Leon Schuster movies.
The sequel, officially titled Spud: The Madness Continues, sees the main cast, including South African-born, Australia-based teenager Troye Sivan as John 'Spud' Milton, Jason Cope as malicious housemaster Sparerib, Tanit Phoenix as the seductive Ms Eve Wilson, Jeremy Crutchley as headmaster Mr Glockenshpeel 'The Glock', and Aaron McIlroy and Julie Summers as Spud's parents.
The movie will also feature a cameo performance by from Rob van Vuuren, revealed producer Brad Logan.
