Los Angeles - Liam Neeson says he getting too old for action roles.

While the Taken 2 star loves his metamorphosis into an action star, the 60-year-old actor admits he sometimes struggles with the stunts.

He said: "It has started to hurt. The knees creak a little more. I'll do stunt work until my knees give up. In the interim I love making these movies because it appeals to the little boy in me."

Liam tries to keep fit in his everyday life so that filming takes less of a toll on him but it is still tough.

'It's ugly and violent'

He added to Star magazine: "I keep pretty fit in life but there's a considerable amount of fight choreography, training and rehearsing.

"Particularly in the last encounter we have in Taken 2. It's not superhero stuff. It's ugly and violent and tiring."

As well as starring in this year's Taken sequel, Liam also reprised his role as R'as al Ghul in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, but he recently admitted he had no idea what his cameo was about because the director was determined to keep the plot of the movie under wraps.

He explained: "[Nolan] takes it to another extreme - I didn't know I was in the movie. I went and shot a scene for two hours with Christian Bale. There was a set, and Christian was tied up.

"I said, 'Chris, what am I doing?' 'Um... well, just walk forward, and say the lines, walk back, and that'll be it, really.' I said, 'What the fuck? Tell me the story!' 'Um... I'd prefer not to, really.' OK, don't mind me - I'm just an actor."
