Los Angeles - Lindsay Lohan will appear opposite a male porn star in her next film.
The troubled actress is set to star in The Canyons with James Deen - who has been in over 2 000 pornographic films - which is to begin shooting next month.
Bret Easton Ellis - who wrote the movie - tweeted: "James Deen and Lindsay Lohan have been cast in The Canyons.
"And I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in The Canyons by BEE. Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it... (sic)."
'An amazing role'
According to its makers, the film follows "five twentysomethings' quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood," and will be directed by Paul Schrader, who wrote Raging Bull and Taxi Driver.
A source told E! News: "The appeal of this role for Lindsay is getting to work with Paul Schrader.
"He's an amazing filmmaker and it's an amazing role for her. She couldn't be happier. Although if she'd had a problem with James Deen, she wouldn't have pursued the role."
However, the source also added that while Lindsay - who is currently filming Liz & Dick - has been cast, her appearance has yet to be finalised.
The source added: "Lindsay got the role, she has been cast, and now they're just working out the details with the lawyers and writers to finalise the deal. She has not signed yet.
The Canyons will be shot in Los Angeles next month.
