Los Angeles - Matthew Modine is set to star in The Dark Knight Rises.
The Full Metal Jacket actor has been confirmed for the superhero movie - which will see Christian Bale reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Anne Hathaway take on the part of Catwoman - where he is being lined up to play a character called Nixon.
Veteran Scottish actor Tom Conti and 11-year-old Ramona and Beezus actress Joey King will also star in the film, but details of their characters are yet to be revealed.
Marion Cotillard
The motion picture is set to be the third and final instalment of director Christopher Nolan's Batman movie series following on from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard's roles in the film were revealed last month, with the 30-year-old Inception star set to play a Gotham City cop called John Blake while Marion will play a character who tries to convince Bruce to concentrate on charity work started by his father Thomas Wayne.
The Dark Knight Rises - which will also star Michael Caine as Bruce's assistant Alfred Pennyworth and Tom Hardy as Bane - is set to be released on July 20 2012.
