Movie set for Owen Wilson's new film catches fire

2013-11-21 11:30
Bangkok - A fire broke out on the set of Hollywood movie The Coup being filmed in Thailand, starring Owen Wilson and Lake Bell.

A spokesperson for the film's local production company said on Thursday that the fire occurred on Wednesday evening after the day's shoot was finished. Neither of the two stars were on the set and there were no injuries.

The spokesperson said that prior to the fire the cast had filmed an explosion scene inside an old building.

Police said they suspected the special effects had caused an electrical short circuit that caused the fire.

The film is about an American family living in Southeast Asia that gets caught in the middle of a coup.

The film also stars Pierce Brosnan, who is due to arrive in Thailand next month.
