Berlin - When it comes to working with acclaimed filmmaker Terrence Malick, there's a certain amount of trust in the director an actor must have.
That's according to Natalie Portman, who stars alongside Christian Bale in Knight of Cups, which premieres at this year's Berlin Film Festival.
Check out the trailer of the film:
Portman said Sunday that Malick's famously convoluted narrative style requires some faith from actors.
She told reporters that during the filming process "you know your character, but you don't know the larger scale of the story and so it's also nice to just embrace the mystery and the unknown and just trust the process."

Bale, who plays the restless lead character, says Malick could probably have made a six-hour version of the film "and maybe there's a venue for that now with the Internet."
