Los Angeles - Pink is set to play a sex addict in Thanks for Sharing.

The Raise Your Glass singer - real name Alecia Moore - will star alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim Robbins in the forthcoming comedy, to be directed by Stuart Blumberg, and he is delighted to have her on board to play the role of "free spirited" Dede.

He said: "Pink could not be a more ideal fit for this role. She carries with her just the right combination of heart and edginess for the part of Dede, and we're incredibly excited to share her acting talent and audiences."

Cameo appearance

It will not be the first time Pink - who has three-month-old daughter Willow with husband Carey Hart - has appeared in a film. She previously made a cameo appearance in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, for which she contributed to the soundtrack.

Stuart has previously said he was delighted with the casting of Gwyneth and her co-stars - including Mark Ruffalo and Joely Richardson - in the movie.

He said: "I couldn't imagine actors more perfect than Gwyneth, Mark, Tim and Joely for this film, and I can't wait to see them bring these characters to life with their unique and formidable talents."

Filming on the movie - set for release in 2012 - is already underway.
