Reese Witherspoon says her daughter hates her sex scenes

Los Angeles  - Reese Witherspoon embarrassed her teenage daughter with the raunchy scenes in her new film, Wild.

The blonde beauty admitted that her 15-year-old daughter, Ava Phillippe was left red-faced after she watched her mum engage in some sexually explicit scenes in her film, Wild.

During the Mavericks conversation on Sunday night at the Toronto Film Festival, Reese joked: "There's a lot of explicit sex scenes in this movie and she's like, 'Oh no!'"

The 38-year-old actress also revealed that she had used Girl actress and writer, Lena Dunham, as inspiration for her role in the film, which focuses on the solo travels of Cheryl Strayed (Witherspoon) as she recovers from an emotional catastrophe.

Reese shared: "I think Lena's changing cultural attitudes with her honestly and willingness to bare all."

The film highlights several feminist issues and the actress is confident that 'Wild' will open up yet more discussion on the topic.

She explained: "It's such an important message about female sexuality, "We kissed that guy or we had sex with that dude in college. We're totally ashamed of so many things. I think this movie says, 'That's OK. Maybe I was meant to sleep with all those guys. Maybe I wanted to. Maybe if I could go back and do it all again, I'd do the same thing.'

"It's a total liberation, especially for young women."

Wild is out in cinemas from January 16, 2015.
