Renée Zellweger happily puts on weight for Bridget Jones return

Los Angeles - Renée Zellweger is relishing the chance to make a new Bridget Jones movie.

The 46-year-old actress has reprised the iconic role for the new movie, Bridget Jones's Baby, and has revealed she's loved reuniting with the cast, which includes Oscar-winning star Colin Firth.

Renée - who appeared in the two earlier movies, in 2001 and 2004 - shared: "It's really a nice reunion with old friends. And it's always wonderful to be back in London and I love this character so it's been a real treat to get to revisit it again."

The American star also revealed she never thought a third Bridget Jones movie would come to fruition.

But she told E! Online: "I'm really glad to be doing it."

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Renée had been enjoying a high-calorie diet of chips and liquid shakes in a bid to pile on the pounds in order to play the titular heroine once more.

An insider previously said: "She knows she can't play Bridget with her naturally skinny frame."

Renée gained approximately 12kgs to play Bridget in the first two movies, both of which featured Colin Firth as Mark Darcy.
