Los Angeles - Robert Pattinson will star in The Childhood of a Leader.
The Twilight star will be joined by Juliette Binoche and Tim Roth in actor Brady Corbet's first directorial effort, according to Variety.
The period drama will focus on the childhood of a future leader following World War I.
Corbet wrote the film script with Mona Fastvold, who also scripted upcoming film The Sleepwalker.
Producers on the project include Antoine and Martine de Clermont-Tonnere, Chris Coen and Amour Fou.
The British actor was last seen in the final part of the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, in 2012.
His upcoming flicks include The Rover, which will co-star Guy Pearce, and Maps to the Stars, which reunites him with director David Cronenberg, who helmed Cosmopolis.
Pattinson previously credited the filmmaker with reinvigorating his career.
He said: "Cosmopolisis the film of my career. Beforehand, I didn't consider myself to be an actor, even with 10 years of acting under my belt.
"I've always felt out of place. I doubt myself. David Cronenberg restored my belief in myself and changed the way I act and think about the industry."
