Ryan Reynolds: Denzel is 'adorable'

London - Ryan Reynolds found Denzel Washington "adorable" to work with.

The pair appear together in new action thriller Safe House (which was filmed in Cape Town) and while the Canadian star - who plays CIA Agent Matt Weston to his co-star's rogue sociopathic colleague Tobin Frost - does not use the 'method' style of acting favoured by Denzel, he found his new friend's approach to the work endearing.

He told Empire magazine: "He's very Method. He's living, eating, breathing and sleeping his character. I have to always call him Frost and he calls me Matt. It's adorable."

Engaging

Ryan enjoyed working on the movie and thinks audiences will find it both "unusual" and engaging.

He said: "It has an unusual feel to it; there's no CGI and it's very real. I think it really causes an audience to lean in.

"The driving is pretty intense, I've killed that poor 1988 BMW 20 times over.

"But I'm always drawn to characters first, and I liked that there's this hubris associated with these guys that enter agencies like the CIA thinking it's some romantic journey into a love of God and country, and it's actually incredibly disillusioning."

Safe House is set for release in South Africa on February 10 2012.
