Cape Town – It was a big night for South Africa at the 72nd Venice Film Festival when filmmaker Oliver Hermanus’ movie, The Endless River, premiered on Monday night.
A first for SA, it was selected to compete for the top prize, "The Golden Lion" award at the Venice International Film Festival.
Set in the small town of Riviersonderend in the Overberg region, the human drama tells the story of a French expatriate and a small town waitress who form an unlikely bond after the brutal murder of his family on a farm.
The film has opened to good reviews from critics.
But that is not the only thing people are talking about as lead actress Crystal-Donna Roberts, a former Pasella presenter, stole the show in the movie and on the red carpet.
