Johannesburg - A new (and final) trailer for Leon Schuster's much-anticipated comedy Mad Buddies has been released via the movie's Facebook page.
Mad Buddies sees South African comic legend Schuster reunite with long-term screen side-kick Alfred "Shorty" Ntombela, in a film directed by Gray Hofmeyr and produced by Helena Spring.
The Mad Buddies trailer sheds more light on the plot details of the film, which tells of two sworn enemies, Boetie (played by Leon Schuster) and Beast (Kenneth Nkosi) who are forced to go on a road trip together from Kwa-Zulu Natal to Gauteng - on foot - only to discover that they have been conned into being part of a reality TV show.
Also starring in the film is Ntombela as the Minister of Tourism, Tanit Phoenix as gorgeous but scheming TV producer Kelsey, and Elize Cawood as an "over-zealous" cafe owner.
The trailer features chaotically slapstick scenes that will be familiar to long-time Schuster fans, including flying ostriches, an interrupted wedding reception, an attacking crocodile and much face-slapping.
Mad Buddies is scheduled to be released in South African cinemas on 22 June.
In a first for South African film, the distribution rights for the movie have been acquired by The Walt Disney Company South Africa and will be distributed under the Touchstone Pictures banner.
