Sofia Coppola inspires two minute spoof based on The Little Mermaid

Los Angeles - Evan Peters stars as a cigarette smoking tattooed Prince Eric alongside Anna Sophia Robb who plays Ariel on a YouTube video that pokes fun at a Disney classic: The Little Mermaid.

In the fake trailer Evan is seen lazily chilling in the pool with a cigarette in hand as Anna’s character Ariel with her long red locks stares at him wide eyed seemingly falling in fairytale love with him as Indie music is blaring in the background. But her world gets shattered when she sees her prince through a window in an embrace with another girl. The video takes place at the "Shellteau Marmont" otherwise in reality known as the Chateau Marmont located in Hollywood.

This funny spoof comes in the wake of 42-year-old director Sofia Coppola’s announcement that she will be directing a new cinematic version of the Disney Fairytale: The little Mermaid which is said to have been in the works since 2011. Scriptwriter Caroline Thompson has also been tied to the project.

Miss Coppola, daughter of Director Francis Ford Coppola, has directed other movies like Lost in Translation starring Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson. The director's style of movie making is certainly going to bring a different flavour to the 1989 version of the Little Mermaid.
