Universal City - On a stage that looked like an enchanted garden topped with a crystal collage, stars of some of last year's biggest blockbusters and this summer's most anticipated movies gathered on Sunday night for the MTV Movie Awards.
Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis hosted the two-hour film fete, in which fans voted for their favorite movies in quirky categories such as best kiss, best fight and best jaw-dropping moment. The ceremony was held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California, and was broadcasted live on Sunday on MTV.
Steamy sex scenes
The show has become as much a promotional platform for the Hollywood studios as awards ceremony, this year premiering sneak peeks of the latest Twilight instalment, Breaking Dawn.
The highly anticipated trailer offered a look at some of the sexually charged moments in the forthcoming film. Characters Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) are shown in ardent embraces and in one clip Edward literally breaks the bed as the passion reaches fever pitch.
This comes after speculation that many parents might be unhappy with the openly sexual nature of the story line in Breaking Dawn.
The producer of the film, Wyck Godfrey, has said the sexual scenes are a "genuine and important part of the film; sensual and romantic".
