The Rock will be in a computer game movie

Los Angeles - Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is set to star in a movie-remake of the computer game Rampage.

The 43-year-old wrestler turned actor will appear in the upcoming adaptation of the Midway arcade classic with production set to start next summer.

First launched in 1986 by Bally Midway, Rampage gave gamers the opportunity to control three giant monsters; George, a gorilla, Lizzie a lizard and Ralph a werewolf - that were all created from mutated humans - as they destroyed buildings and ate people in cities across North America.

Details of Dwayne's character are being kept under wraps and a director is yet to sign on to helm the movie, reports Deadline.

The film is being made by the makers of San Andreas the 3D disaster film starring Dwayne and directed by Brad Peyton which was released in May.

The hunky actor is currently in the middle of shooting his new comedy Central Intelligence opposite Kevin Hart and will lend his voice to the upcoming animated Disney flick Moana.
