Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Cape Town - Tom Cruise has another impossible mission to somehow make possible after all.

Paramount Pictures have unveiled a new promotional poster for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Cruise's fourth outing as Impossible Mission Force (IMF) agent Ethan Hunt. It also marks director  Brad Bird's (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) first live-action film.

In the poster, a hooded Cruise is joined by his new team, which includes Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Simon Pegg. Ving Rhames reprises his role as Luther Stickell opposite new co-stars Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, and Anil Kapoor.

The third previous Mission: Impossible movie was released in 2006 and grossed nearly $400m worldwide.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Paramount have also released an official synopsis for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which reads:

"This is not just another mission. The IMF is shut down when it’s implicated in a global terrorist bombing plot. Ghost Protocol is initiated and Ethan Hunt and his rogue new team must go undercover to clear their organization’s name. No help, no contact, off the grid. You have never seen a mission grittier and more intense than this."

The movie will first be released to IMAX theatres in the US before it goes on wide release on December 21.

It's set for release in South Africa on December 16.
