Tom Cruise recalls stunt gone wrong

Los Angeles - Tom Cruise crashed into the world's tallest building whilst filming Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.

The 49-year-old actor - who plays American agent, Ethan Hunt in the spy series - admitted that whilst filming a flight sequence 2 717 feet (830m) off the ground while scaling the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai, he crashed head-first into the building, terrifying the crew.

He said: "There's this bit where I come flying off the building, running perpendicular to it, and then launch myself off it, and there are all these cross winds. In the shot you can see that my feet are kind of separated because I'm using them to hold my body away from the building and then bring my body back into the building to fly.

Work ethic

"I'm looking for certain reference points and I'm thinking 'When the hell do I turn back to the building so I don't go headfirst into it?' I came banging into the building, and I can literally feel the fear emanating from the crew, and I'm like 'No, No, I'm okay, I'm okay."

Tom's co-star Jeremy Renner is also impressed with his work ethic.

He added to Empire magazine: "His take on it was basically that once you get above 30 feet, if you fall then you're not going to see tomorrow. Above 30 feet, the result is the same. Only difference is that if something does go wrong, you've probably got a chance to make a couple of phone calls on your way down."
