Transformers 4 title revealed

Los Angeles - Transformers: Age of Extinction is the official title of the forthcoming sci-fi film.

Paramount Pictures disclosed the name of the fourth instalment in the hit franchise alongside a sand-covered poster (see below) which also contained the release date, June 27 2014.

The film is based on a script by Ehren Kruger, who also worked on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Transformers: Dark of the Moon and is said to centre on a mechanic played by Mark Wahlberg who struggles to be a single parent to daughter Nicola Peltz.

The star-studded cast also includes Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, T.J. Miller, Sophia Myles and Titus Welliver, while Peter Cullen will be returning to voice Optimus Prime, who is the leader of Autobots - usually the main protagonists in the films.

The fourth Transformers movie is being shot in numerous locations throughout the US and China and earlier this week the cast were spotted in Chicago.

The film is directed by Michael Bay and re-unites the filmmaking team from the hit franchise, including executive producers Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.
