Universal to donate to Paul Walker charity

Los Angeles - Universal Pictures has vowed to donate proceeds from the DVD release of Fast & Furious 6 to Paul Walker's charity.

The movie studio behind the hugely successful action franchise will offer up a percentage of profits from the upcoming home entertainment release of the latest film - which was a box office hit over the summer - to Reach Out WorldWide, the charity set up by the late actor, in 2010.

Universal president Donna Langley said in a statement, "With the passing of Paul, the world has lost a man who spent a great deal of his life in service to others. We share in the deep grief of his family, friends and the countless fans who love him."

"We keep Paul's memory alive and honour his legacy through continued support of Reach Out WorldWide, the non-profit he founded to give hope to those who must rebuild after they have experienced natural disasters."

Fast & Furious 6 saw Walker reprise his famous role as Brian O'Conner for a fifth time in the high-octane franchise, starring opposite Vin Diesel, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and more.

Production on the seventh film began in September and studio bosses have yet to decide how to handle Walker's untimely passing, which came midway through production.

The cast and crew were on a break from filming for the Thanksgiving holiday when Walker and pal Roger Rodas were involved in the fatal incident.
