Denzel Washington Safe House

Cape Town - The first trailer for the action movie Safe House, which features Cape Town as its main location, has been released.

The movie, which stars Denzel Washinton and Ryan Reynolds, was shot in the Mother City earlier this year.

Cape Town serves as the setting for Safe House in which a rogue CIA operative, Tobin Frost (played by Denzel), is placed in a safe house in the city after he hands himself in at the US consulate.

He is placed in the care of the safe house "babysitter", the bored and still-green Agent Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds). But things go horribly wrong when the supposed secure location is attacked, leaving Weston with the responsibility of keeping Frost alive and in CIA custody while trying to figure out who compromised the safe house.

The tense, action-packed trailer features numerous shots of instantly recognisable Cape landmarks, including the Cape Town Stadium, Lion's Head and the CBD. Later in the trailer, Denzel is seen wearing a South African Police Service uniform.

Safe House also stars Vera Farmiga, Robert Patrick, Brendan Gleeson and SA model-actress Tanit Phoenix.

The movie is set for release in South Africa on February 10 2012.
