Los Angeles - Will Ferrell has refused to star in a sequel to festive favourite Elf.
The Anchorman 2 star thinks he is too old to dress like an elf once again and would look "pathetic" in costume if he reprised his role for a sequel to the 2003 comedy in which he starred as Buddy Hobbs.
Talking on US talk show Watch What Happens Live, Ferrell said: "Absolutely not ... I just think it would look slightly pathetic if I tried to squeeze back in the elf tights; Buddy the middle-aged elf."
The hit film has become a favourite among many A-listers during the Christmas season, with actors like Hugh Jackman admitting he watches Elf with his family every year at Christmas.
The Wolverine star looks forward to sitting down his wife, Deborra Lee-Furness and their adopted children Oscar, 13, and Ava, nine, to watch festive movies and although they try new ones, they can't help but return to Elf.
He previously said: "My kids are getting older but we genuinely look forward to watching the same movies. There have been great animated movies, but now they're getting into live action stuff. But Elf, for years, has been the one that my wife and the kids have all liked."
