Woody Harrelson played an epic prank on the Hunger Games cast

Los Angeles - Woody Harrelson played an elaborate prank on the entire cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 during filming.

The 54-year-old actor - who stars alongside the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth in the latest movie in the series - fooled his on-screen co-stars into thinking - and worrying - he'd be badly hurt while out riding his bicycle.

Speaking at a press conference for the sequel, director Francis Lawrence explained to BANG Showbiz: "I remember one time Woody had fallen out of tree and scraped the whole of the right side of his body.

"So I get this text and an image of Wood with a completely scarred and bloodied side of his face. And he'd been riding his bike a lot, and he had hit the gravel and gone down and landed on his face and he was supposed to shoot the next day.

"So he was saying, 'You know I don't know what can we do, what can we do about these scars?' And he was acting a little dizzy, and it was all just a joke.

"He had our make-up people come to his house and spend three hours putting this prosthetic make-up on his face to take pictures of it just to freak me out."

And Liam revealed the lengths Woody went to in order to fool his co-stars.

He said: "I was texting with him and I was with a friend of mine and he sent this photo to me. He was like, 'I'm at this hospital man can you come and pick me up?' I'm like 'Yeah man where are you at?'

"He told me the name of it and it was April Fools, and my friend said, 'Are you sure it's not like an April Fools thing?' And I said, 'Nah mate, Woody wouldn't do something like that, this is real, I know Woody'. But the name he gave us for the hospital didn't exist, I was thinking where is this hospital! It's not coming up!"
