Amy Adams changes her mind about Enchanted sequel

Los Angeles - Amy Adams will star in Disney's Enchanted sequel.

The 42-year-old actress - who found fame as Princess Giselle in the 2007 movie - will reprise her role in the sequel, which will be called 'Disenchanted', according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The follow up, set 10 years after the original, will feature Giselle "questioning her happily ever after, and accidentally triggering events that make everyone's lives turn upside down in both the real world and in the animated kingdom of Andalasia".

In the first movie Gisele rejected Prince Edward (James Marsden) in order to remain in New York with Robert Phillip (Patrick Dempsey), a divorce lawyer she fell in love with, and his daughter Morgan.

It is not yet clear if Patrick or James will return for the sequel.

The sequel was originally due to be filmed in 2010 and is now set to begin filming in 2017, 10 years on from its original release.

Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman will helm the project, while David Stem and David Weiss have written the script.

Amy's involvement in the film comes as a surprise as she previously insisted it was a "perfect standalone movie".

She said: "It's a perfect standalone movie. It has a great beginning, a great middle, and a great end. I watched it recently, because I typically don't watch my work a lot, and I thought, I really like that movie. It was nice to revisit that work and have really positive feelings about it. But I think it works so well."

However, James has spoken of his desire for a sequel.

He said: "We all hoped it would happen. I don't understand why they never did it. It was a very successful movie...But at some point when the gray hairs start coming, you can't really play the quintessential animated prince anymore."
