Cape Town – Andy Serkis will make his directorial debut at the 61st London Film Festival.
His film Breathe has been selected as the opening film of the prestigious festival.
Serkis is best know for his work in motion-capture acting as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings and Ceaser in the Planet of Apes.
The movie, which stars Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, is based on the true life story of disability rights activist Robin Cavendish.
After being diagnosed with polio Robin (Garfield) was being paralysed from the neck down and given only 3 months to live. He survived and went on to become an advocate for the disabled.
Foy plays his devoted wife Diana. Together they travel the world to help others like him.
