Los Angeles - Beyoncé Knowles has been taking acting lessons.
The 34-year-old singer - who previously starred in the movie Dreamgirls - is so serious about making it as an actress that she has been honing her craft over the past year, fitting in classes whenever she can.
A source told Us Weekly: "She wants to land leading roles in movies and has been taking classes in New York and Los Angeles for the past year.
"Bey's looking for an iconic dramatic role. She wants to make a film that's socially relevant to African American rights."
The publication also reported that Beyoncé frequently receives scripts but is waiting for the perfect role.
The insider explained: "She's always being sent scripts to read."
Speaking previously about her decision to act, Beyoncé said: ''I took a risk with acting. It was scary because it was different for me."
However, Beyoncé is still committed to her music career and is believed to be working on a new record.
The source explained: "Beyoncé's also recording a new album! She's writing and working with a bunch of producers right now."
