Braveheart screenwriter teams up with Mel Gibson for Passion sequel

Los Angeles — Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace says he's working with Mel Gibson on a follow-up to The Passion of the Christ.

Wallace told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday that the new film will focus on the resurrection of Jesus.

Gibson's spokesman declined to comment on the actor-director's involvement in the project.

The Passion was directed by Gibson and released in 2004. The film starred Jim Caviezel as Jesus and earned $612m at the worldwide box office.

Wallace recently worked with Gibson on the World War II drama "Hacksaw Ridge."
