Comedian Hannibal Buress to star in Spider-Man Homecoming

Los Angeles - Hannibal Buress is set to star in Spider-Man Homecoming.

The 33-year-old stand-up comedian has taken pen to paper and inked a deal that'll see him join the forthcoming superhero blockbuster reboot although, according to The Hollywood Reporter, his role is being kept under wraps.

The 30 Rock star will join fellow comics Donald Glover and Martin Starr as well as actor Logan Marshall-Green.

Michael Keaton is portraying main antagonist The Vulture, while Tom Holland is playing Peter Parker and his webslinging alter ego - a role in which he made his debut in Captain America: Civil War.

The cast also includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Michael Barbieri, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Kenneth Choi and singer Zendaya.

Jon Watts has been handed directorial duties, while John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein have written the script.

Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are overseeing the film for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios under both companies deal, in conjunction with Walt Disney Company, to share the rights superhero character.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is to focus on Parker's time at high school and the roots of the character.

It is scheduled for a July 2017 release.
