Comic Con heads to Africa

Johannesburg - Members of the cast of the most successful TV series of all time, Game of Thrones, and of comedy series The Big Bang Theory are heading for our shores.

This was announced at the launch of Comic Con Africa at the Kyalami Convention Centre on Tuesday.

Confirmed visitors to the event will include video game voice actors Troy Baker and Nolan North.

Social media was abuzz and #ComicConAfrica trended on Twitter following the news that the international stars will be visiting South Africa.

Legendary actors John Kani and Connie Chiume graced the event.

They were fresh from attending premiere events for the blockbuster film Black Panther.

Comic Con has been a hit all over the world, but it is coming to Africa for the first time.

The main event will take place at Kyalami from September 14 to 16.

Comedian Jason Goliath was dressed up as Mr Incredible. He said he wanted the audience to behave like 10-year-olds again and that they should enjoy seeing superheroes in South Africa.

Kani captivated the audience saying: “The world is celebrating with us that we have got Comic Con here in Johannesburg.”

A wall at the venue had been decorated with doughnuts and anyone feeling hungry could help themselves.

The constant sound of roaring dinosaurs came from a map of Africa that had been mounted on another wall.

Some entertainers were dressed as Marvel superheroes such as the Incredible Hulk, Deadpool and Hellboy.

The organisers have promised a programme that will cater to all fans of comics, gaming, fantasy and science fiction.
