On Wednesday Vin Diesel teased the return of two important members of the Fast family.

In a Facebook live video Diesel revealed he was on a "top secret kick ass set".

He then went on to tease who the director is saying, "think forefathers of Fast, think the architects of the Fast saga, the one responsible for resurrecting the franchise."

Director Justin Lin then steps into the camera frame.

According to Entertainment Weekly Lin who directed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth instalments is in talks to direct the final chapters.

"You wanted 9 and 10 to be incredible. We’ve heard your concerns about the saga and where it needs to arrive in its final chapters," says Diesel.

His second big reveal was his onscreen sister Jordana Brewster, one of the original cast members.

About her return Diesel remarked that Lin is so old school that there was one person he wanted to be here immediately.

"He wanted someone who is a part of the brotherhood, when you go past gender. He wanted someone very important to be here, and it's someone you all have been asking for that character in the next chapter."

Brewster says that it feels like no time has passed.
