Fifty Shades Darker cast 'safe' in Nice

Los Angeles - The cast and crew of Fifty Shades Darker are "safe" following a terrorist attack in Nice.

The sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey has been filming in the French city, which was targeted by a terrorist attack on Thursday night when a truck ploughed through a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day, leaving 80 dead.

Dana Brunetti, who produces the movie - which stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan - confirmed the movie's cast and crew were not harmed during the horrific events.

He tweeted: "Back safe in my hotel room. Thanks for everyone's concern and messages.

"As far as I know everyone from our cast and crew is safe. Thanks for everyone's concern."

He also wrote on his Facebook account: "From production:

"Production has confirmed that everyone working on location in the south of France is okay. Everyone has been accounted for and is safe and sound.

"Thanks for everyone's messages and concerns. Another sad day for France and the world."

E.L. James, who wrote the books, tweeted: "Just heard about the horrendous events in Nice. Appalling. Thoughts are with the families of the dead and injured."

It is not yet known whether the tragedy has affected the production on the erotic drama film, which is due to be released in 2017.
