FIRST LOOK: The Power Rangers get a modern upgrade

2016-05-06 14:50

Cape Town – A few weeks ago we got a first look at Elizabeth Banks' upgraded Rita Repulsa for the Power Rangers movie. (See it here.)

And now Entertainment Weekly has revealed the Power Rangers in their full colour glory.

Goodbye spandex, hello translucent extraterrestrial armour.

Director Dean Israelite says they drew upon the show's mythology and the coming of age theme.

“These suits needed to feel like they were catalysed by these kids and their energy, their spirit," he told Entertainment Weekly.

We’re totally feeling their new upgraded, Iron Man like look.

The big screen reboot stars newcomers Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, Dacre Montgomery and R.J. Cyler who will play the colourful rangers tasked to stop Rita from conquering earth.

The film is set to be released in March 2017.
