Game of Thrones star lands lead role in horror flick

Los Angeles - Lena Headey is to star in new horror film The Woman Of The Woods.

The Game of Thrones star has teamed up with writer/director Russell Friedenberg for the scary flick in which she will play a woman called Kelsay, who is in the middle of a separation from her husband.

Before they break up for good, the couple and their young daughter go on a camping trip in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest to tell their child they are splitting but while there they disturb an evil supernatural presence in the woods which possesses the youngster.

The official synopsis reads: "Upon their return to Seattle, a police detective investigating a series of missing persons becomes convinced that the daughter is responsible. Kelsey must prove her daughter's innocence, but to do so she must face the terrifying entity and spiral into greater and greater danger."

Speaking about the project, Friedenberg said: "I'm totally amped to bring The Woman Of The Woods to audiences around the world with Myriad Pictures and the incredibly talented Lena Headey. Lena brings an authenticity and emotional power to her work that is uncompromising. And Myriad has a track record of elevated and poignant work that we are proud to be a part of. Full speed ahead!"

Lena - who gave birth to a daughter in July, her second child as she already has son Wylie with ex-husband Peter Loughran - can next be seen in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies with her Game Of Thrones co-star Charles Dance, former Doctor Who actor Matt Smith and his girlfriend, Downton Abbey beauty Lily James.
