Here it is! The Independence Day 2 trailer!

Cape Town – In case you missed it, Independence Day 2 is really happening without Will Smith.

With the release of the official trailer a corresponding microsite, Warof1996.com reveals what happened to his character, Colonel Steven Hiller.

According to the site, Hiller died during testing of an alien hybrid fighter, which malfunctioned. He was survived by his wife Jasmine and son Dylan who will follow in his footsteps.

Will Smith might not be back but some of the cast will be returning.

Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Vivica A. Fox will join Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher.
