Cape Town - The 2016 edition of the Indie Karoo Film Festival was a true celebration of South African film, with hundreds of film lovers and fans, along with a host of top filmmakers, all on hand to view and discuss some of the best films from South Africa and beyond.
This year the festival honoured a range of films with the following awards:
Best feature - Twee Grade Van Moord
Best feature documentary - Boers at the End of the World
Best Short film - I Made a Film You Will Never See
Barry Strick, Producer of Twee Grade Van Moord had this to say of the festival, “What can I say? Fantastically organised, wonderful festival. And THANK YOU to you, the judges and IKFF team for the award!”
The Festival also bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award to Lida Botha ('n Pawpaw vir My Darling); and a Special Mention Sward to actor Deànré Reiners for Verskietende Ster and Mignon 'Mossie Van Wyk.
The festival saw over 40 films from South Africa and from across the continent and beyond on show throughout the weekend.
Guests were also able to interact with a host of filmmakers including world renowned South African director Gavin Hood, Boers at the End of the World filmmaker Richard Finn Gregory, and Twee Grade van Moord (Two Degrees of Murder) producer Barry Strick amongst others.
