Horror lovers this movie festival is for you!

Cape Town – The South African HorrorFest film festival celebrates its 12th anniversary this year. 

The event takes place at the Labia Theatre in Cape Town from 26 October to 4 November.

The 10 day event has everything from movies, short films and a live movie soundtrack performance, to literature, Halloween dress-up and a mini-market.

Movie line-up

The majority of the movies in this 12th edition of the HorrorFest will be making their African premieres, and you can be the first to see the new anticipated prequel Ouija: Origin of Evil, before anyone else on Wednesday, 27 October. 

Other movies include: vampyres, spirits from the other side, a zombie ambushed strip club, Frankenstein's daughter, swinging '60s slasher, an absorbed twin determined on come out, a haunted bed, giant leeches, a lesbian couple on the rampage, a backpacker's Indonesian nightmare, five intersecting tales of terror, a gory night out, a found footage shoot gone wrong, a documentary on the long lost and most dangerous film ever made from the dawn of cinema, Dr. Frankenfurter, Brad & Janet, and a multitude of incredible short films.

Other events at the festival

The Makabra Ensemble's live movie soundtrack performance this year (29 October) will be for the stunning 1932 French-German classic Vampyr

And on Friday, 28 October it's dress-up and participation time with the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
