Cape Town – In case you're wondering Emily Blunt has Julie Andrews' stamp of approval as the new Mary Poppins.
Mary Poppins Returns is set to hit cinemas in December 2018 and while Julie won't be featured in the film the reboot has her blessing.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly director Director Rob Marshall revealed that Julie was excited about the news that Emily will be playing the titular role of the famous nanny.
When she heard that Emily will be taking on the role she threw her hands in the air and said yes, says Marshall.
He further revealed that Julie decided not to have a cameo in the movie out of respect for Emily.
"This is Emily’s show, and I really want it to be Emily’s show. I don’t want it to be, “Oh, here comes that Mary Poppins.” I don’t want that. I really want her to take this and run with it,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
