Local flicks showing at the Cannes Film Festival

Cape Town – The 69th Cannes Film Festival is in full swing.

The prestigious film festival brings a mix of Hollywood A-listers and world cinema to the French Riveria.

And South Africa is represented there too.

The National Film and Video Foundation will screen feature films and short films at its own pavilion.

Feature films Kalushi, Free State, Mrs Right Guy and the box office hit Happiness Is A Four-Letter Word will be shown.

Dineo Moeketsi who stars in Mrs Right Guy took to Instagram to announce the exciting news that the film will screen on 19 May, the same day of its first screening in SA.

Short films to be screened include: Hamba Kahle, Scribblings, Into Us and Ours, Konneksies, Umva and Precious Gift.

Apart from the screenings, the Joburg Film Festival, a progressive international film showcase, is also launching at the Cannes Film Festival.

The festival takes place in Johannesburg from 28 October to 5 November 2016.
