Cape Town – Charlize Theron bursts onto the big screen at local cinemas this weekend.
Goodbye Bond, hello Atomic Blonde!
Charlize plays secret agent Lorraine Broughton who is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents.
Also to see is Game of Thrones alum Michiel Huisman in a thriller about a man who relives the same events over and over and Sally Hawkins in a beautiful biopic of the artist Maud Lewis.
Here are 4 new films at the local box office:
Movie: Atomic Blonde
Our rating: 3/5
Short review: Charlize Theron as Lorraine Broughton can easily be the next big action movie star whilst putting Daniel Craig’s limp Bond to bed.
Movie: 2:22
Our rating: 3/5
Short review: A stupid, silly bit of B-movie nonsense that's a whole lot more enjoyable than it has any right to be.
Movie: Maudie
Our rating: 4/5
Short review: Sally Hawkins performance is a masterpiece in this biopic of artist, Maud Lewis.
Movie: Death Note (New on Netflix only)
Our rating: 2/5
Short review: Netflix's new thriller-inclined version of the Japanese classic Death Note becomes increasingly strained by its own insanity and clogged by clunky dialogue.
