Meet the local filmmaker whose work is inspiring the world

Cape Town – South African filmmaker Ntsikelelo Mavata watched his first film at a neighbour's house when he was six years old.

After his father took him to the cinema for the first time he believed that filmmaking was his calling and through it he would uplift his community.

He followed his calling and after matriculating he moved from rural Eastern Cape to the big city lights of Johannesburg to pursue his passion.

On completion of his studies at the Big Fish School of Digital Filmmaking he returned to Rhamnyiba village on the outskirts of King William’s Town to tell the stories of ordinary people in rural communities.

There he started a production company with three friends. Making use of local actors and crew, Kwanontsomi Enterprise has so far produced three short films, two documentaries and a feature film.
