Cape Town – Charlize Theron and Sean Penn's movie shot in Cape Town comes to the big screen this weekend.

Matthew McConaughey goes in search of gold (again), Alec Baldwin is a boss baby and South African legend Tobie Cronjé plays a troubled man in a stage to screen adaptation.

Here are 4 new films at the local box office:

Movie: Gold

Our rating: 2/5

Short review: Another excellent lead performance from Matthew McConaughey doesn't come close to saving a derivative and dull Wolf of Wall Street knockoff.

Movie: The Last Face

Our rating: 2/5

Short review: The Last Face is a risible love story with incurious politics, unintentionally bad dialogue and a highly questionable agenda of humanitarian intervention that plays out like an advert for the UN.

Movie: The Boss Baby

Our rating: 3/5

Short review: Boss Baby makes absolutely no sense but has LOL moments that will appeal to kids and adults alike and is just in time for the holidays.

Movie: Die Rebellie van Lafras Verwey

Our rating: 2/5

Short review: This stage to screen adaptation falls victim to its own tragic portrayal of a man so pathetic that you actually just want to stop watching.
