Cape Town – The internet’s collective dream came true on Sunday night (early Monday morning SA time) when Leonardo DiCaprio finally bagged his Oscar.
After 6 nominations the 41-year-old actor finally received the golden statuette for his gripping performance as frontiersman Hugh Glass in The Revenant.
With the crowd on their feet a humble DiCaprio accepted the prize that so long eluded him and gave a very beautiful acceptance speech. (Watch it here)
Of course we were happy that he had finally won and of course we loved Leo’s speech but we kind of hoped he would make some kind of joke about being snubbed so many times.
Alas Leo kept it cool.
But then Vanity Fair treated us to what can only be called our favourite Leonardo DiCaprio Oscar moment ever!
The American publication tweeted a video of Leonardo waiting to get his Oscar statuette engraved at the Governors Ball – a yearly tradition for the winners.
Then Leo gave us what we were all waiting for:
"Do you do this every year?” he kindly asks the lady engraving his Oscar.
“Yes,” she answers.
“I wouldn't know,” he quips with a cheeky little grin on his face.
