Paul and Ringo to reunite for Beatles film premiere

London - The surviving Beatles will get together for the British premiere of director Ron Howard's film that documents the band's chaotic years on the road.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will be in London on Thursday for the opening of Eight Days a Week — the Touring Years.

The film traces the group's progression from playing to small frenzied crowds at The Cavern Club in Liverpool to their sold-out stadium shows in the United States.

Their last official gig was at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 1966. McCartney says the band knew it was time to stop touring, partly because fans screamed so loud the band couldn't hear the music.

The film project has the backing of Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, and Olivia Harrison, widow of George Harrison.
