SA bags 28 nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards

Cape Town – The nominees for the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) have been announced.

The annual awards aim to honour and promote excellence in the African movie industry as well as uniting the African continent through arts and culture. 

South Africa bagged 28 nominations: Vaya takes the lead with 12 nods, followed by Noem My Skollie (Call Me Thief) with seven and Dora's Peace with five. 

Notable nominees include Daryne Joshua and Akin Omotoso who bagged nods for both Best Director and Best Film, Khabonina Quebeka for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Dann Jaques Mouton for Best Actor in a Leading Role. 

Khabonina took to Twitter to thank the academy. 

The awards ceremony will take place later this year.
